Product Summary
Spectra Quest Lab's SOAs use a uniquely structured Tapered Amplifier chip
to achieve 1W-class optical amplification output while maintaining high
fiber coupling efficiency during wavelength change and LD current change.
The reflectivity of the chip end face is also well suppressed, with no
kink at all up to 2A of rated current, and the output ASE light ripple
remains low at 0.03dB (typ.). This makes it suitable for use as an optical
modulator and Superluminescent light source as well as a wide wavelength
bandwidth and highly stable optical amplifier. In addition, when used with
a pulse driver, it is possible to generate Fourier-limited nanosecond pulses
from (narrow linewidth) CW input light. All models are available in 1um
and 900nm bands.
Semiconductor Optical Amplifier: λ-Amp 1040, 950
A PM fiber is coupled to each of the input and output of the SOA chip, and an optical isolator is inserted at the output side. LD drivers up to 2.2A are equipped with a current modulation port with a BW of 1MHz.
Superluminescent Source: λ-Bright 1040, 950
This model is fiber-coupled only on the output side to minimize unnecessary
reflections. The electrical system is the same as λ-Amp (optical amplifiers).
nanosecond SOA: λ-Impulse 1040, 950
Equipped with a nanosecond pulse driver, it can generate Fourier-limited nanosecond pulses from a narrow linewidth CW optical input, and like the λ-Amp, both input and output PM fibers are coupled. There is a 10 MHz and a 125 MHz repetition rate model, both of which are trigallable and operate from a single shot.
